Wet and Wild

Last Tuesday, the 17th of November 2009, Mum, K, L, T and I went to Wet and Wild. We were in Queensland for a holiday.

First we went to the wave pool. L, K and I went into the wave pool. I was extraordinarily happy. When the waves were on I got hit by the waves and T came in but Mum didn't.

After the wave pool we all had lunch. I had chips and a soft drink.

Then we went on the Mammoth fallsride. mum, K, T and I went on the ride, but L was scaredt to go on. I had a few butterflies going on the ride, but them in. The ride was very high up. We all got in a rubber tube and we went down the slide. It was cool.

Next we went to Calypso Beach. I went really fast. You go on a hollow rubber tube and you can sit in any position in the tube and you float along. We got off at the wrong stop, so we walked in the water to the next one.

We went from Calypso Beach to Buccaneer Bay. I went down the orange slide on my tummy, it was pretty cool. Then K and I went over to the squirty area and I got squirted in the ear. Then I got a frozen coke and we all went back to their place.

I loved it. My favourite but was going on the Mammoth Falls. Next time I want to go on the Rapid River.

Nature Study 2

We looked at the front garden, but we weren't allowed to talk. I had to see, feel and hear what I could and then I wrote down some things.

One word for what I heard - birds
Two words for what I saw - wasps and insects eating leaves
Three words for what I felt - web brushing against me, aphids they were rough like a flew with big lumps on it and insects bites on the big tree.

I drew a picture of one of the flowers in the garden and put some leaves in my nature journal.

Nature Study 1

We went to the creek. I was trying to catch a frog and fell in the water. Photobucket
At the end I tried to catch a lizard.
Photobucket
I saw a family of lizards, birds and trees. I captured a leech and I captured it because I thought it was a type of fish.
Photobucket

We looked up about leeches and here's some information we found.
Leeches
Leeches are blood sucking parasites. There are over 600 types of leeches and their bodies are divided into 34 segments. The Australian land leech has two jaws, but most leeches have three jaws.

Camp

I went to Mt. Eliza last week. I saw lots of jellyfish which was boring and I saw a different species of starfish. It was small, with more points than a regular starfish.

We used a big bus to drive there. We did lots of things, we went to the beach, the rockpools. We went on a giant swing, the flying fox and lots of other things.

My favourite part was the giant swing. On the last day was my birthday, I turned 11. I got my own gluten free cake, it had cream and strawberries and was yummy.

The Trapdoor Family

One sunny fine day, mum went to feed the rabbits but there was a spider in the rabbits foodbox. Mum called me. I ran to mum. I had a stick and jar and lid. Mum went to get the broom to kill it. I bought a big tank especially made for spiders. I put dirt and dead grass and sticks and bugs. I kept them as pets. I had 16 spiders. They were trap door spiders.

Some more science

Today I looked at needs and wants.
A need is something we must have to live.
A want is something we would like to have but don't need to live.

Photobucket

This is a picture of our house and what we have that are needs and wants.
Some needs are food, water, warmth (we have a heater) and shelter.
Some wants are tv, playstation, tv, computer, toys and chips.

The little part of science

I learnt about living and non living things.
Living things are called biotic and non living things are called abiotic.
I went into my backyard and looked for biotic and abiotic things.
This is what I found.

Biotic
Dog, rabbits, plants, bees, tree, the ground is made of volcanic rock, grass

Abiotic
Rabbits hutch, blankets, fence, broken gate, BBQ, watering can, water compost, bricks.

Caring for Hermit Crabs

Hermit crabs need a mix of food and make sure you have salt water.
The main reasons for water is so they can keep their lungs moist or they will suffocate.
In your tank make sure you have lots of sand, rocks. Then you can buy some seaweed and a crab house.

Most important things to remember:
Fresh water
Food - chopped up veges, fruit. I gave them watermelon.
Put them near the sub, they like warm temperature. I have a special lamp and a heat pad for our tank.

Hermit CRABS

On Monday I got three hermit crabs. I named them Climber (his nickname is Smooth), Stubborn (his nickname is Ruff) and Mini (and also scales, his shell feels like bumpy scales like a crocodile).
I've got a little house for them and a sponge starfish and some shells. I got one shell for free because it's got holes in it.
We gave the house new sand and I stil can't figure out why Climber likes to climb the bars.
Stubborn is really stubborn of coming out of his shell.

This is their new home.

The one up the top is Climber. The one on the left is Stubborn. The one on the right is Mini.

Ancient Egpyt Map

My map was different, I tried my best and I even made a boat for the river and also I made a lodge for the boat and that lodge is for the canoe. The canoe has four rows in it if you want to have four people in it or you want a group.

The fiery rage of the volcano eruption

I took those photos last night and this is what I have to say. It looked like a fiery eruption from a volcano, you have to jump over the black parts to survive.

My animals

They are my rabbits. They are cute. They are a year old and their names are Chocky and Snowy.

Photobucket
This is Chocky, he is brown with bits of white. He is quiet, his nose flicks up and down. You can hold him by his back and front legs and you can give him kisses on his forehead.

Photobucket

This is Snowy, he is white. Snowy is quiet like Chocky, but he can kick more and Chocky fights Snowy. Snowy is my favourite and Chocky is my second favourite.

Photobucket

This is Misha, my dog.

My photos

I am learning about taking photos. I tried my best and I am lucky I didn't kill the camera.

Fig Cakes

Photobucket

We made fig cakes because we are learning about Ancient Egypt. There were a bit delicious but the cakes tasted a bit raw.

Fig cake
You will need:
Blender
200g figs
Water
Ground cardamom
Honey
50g walnut
50g almonds

Method:
1. Put almonds in blender, blend. Take out and set aside.
2. Put walnuts in blender, blend. Take out and set aside.
3. Chop figs and put in blender adding just a little water and blend.
4. Add walnuts and cardamom and blend again, adding a little water if mixture is too sticky.
5. Spoon mixture out of the blender on to a clean surface. Shape into balls.
6. Sprinkle balls with honey and ground almonds.
